Assistant Operations Manager - Ground Maintenance

From £24,000 to £27,000 per annum

Are you an experienced Ground maintenance team leader looking for that next step? Are you an experienced Assistant Manager looking to join a dynamic Ground maintenance company? If you said yes to either one of those questions we want to hear from you!

The CGM Group ltd (East Anglia) is currently looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our team in Downham Market-Norfolk. The successful candidate will be assisting the Operations Manager in the management of existing grounds maintenance contracts and will liaise with current and future customers, ensuring that all works are accurately quoted for and delivered to the standards expected by the Client and the Company. You will be required to meet with assigned clients regularly at agreed times either on your own or to assist the Operations Manager at more formal meetings, making sure that all sites are at a minimum being maintained to the specifications agreed.

You will support the Operations Manager in the smooth running of the Depot including job and time sheet management daily to include obtaining updates on programmes daily from the Grounds Maintenance Operatives. Alongside the Operations manager you will ensure that budgetary requirements are met through effective working practices and staff management, minimising risk of damage to persons, vehicles, machinery and equipment.

You will act as the point of contact for the Ground Maintenance Operatives within your teams to enable effective delivery of services and individual’s development as per the requirements of the business. You will ensure your team are carrying out their daily checks and report back any defaults or consumables required for the next working day, sending in before and After Photos of their works and completing all Programs and Job tickets returning to the Admin Assistant. Manage the outstanding Job ticket/Enquiry reports with the Operations Manager,

You will need to be flexible with working hours dependant on the depot and location of works to ensure that all of the responsibilities are met, this may include working shifts starting earlier in the morning or finishing later at night for example 8am-6:30pm or 6am – 4:30pm

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Assist the Operations Manager in the management of contracts and identifying future growth both with current clients and the wider marketplace

·Utilise Staffing Plans to enable the effective management of Grounds Maintenance Operatives, providing excellent service and quality within agreed deadlines

·Identify and resolve day to day queries from clients and operatives within your agreed area

·Work with the Operations Manager in order to provide accurate estimates. This can include:

·Site visits

·Assessment of equipment/machinery requirements

·Photographs of site

·Updates on Programmed Works

·Measurements

·Ensure all workers are compliant with CGM’s Health and Safety Policy by leading by example

·Maintain dress standards (in accordance with Company Policy) to ensure that all workers are well presented with required PPE before commencing shift

·Ensure that all employees are compliant with timesheet and vehicle checks process ensuring effective management of the fleet

·Through effective leadership encourage a positive working environment

·Conduct audits on machinery, equipment and vehicles daily inspections to ensure that all are maintained to a high standard

·Work with teams to keep all machinery, equipment and vehicles clean, tidy and presentable to a high standard

·Arrange timely and cost effective maintenance and repairs to meet the needs of our clients

·Liaise with clients to notify any changes to programme or difficulties in a timely manner. This can be delegated to other team members or escalated to the Operations Manager dependant on the severity of the change

·Waste Management at depot to ensure that all waste is separated upon return to depot and streams are not mixed through the use of correct bays/containers

·Arrange for the training of staff through regular development reviews

·Working collaboratively with other departments to maximise contract value through the identification of other works that may be available

·Effectively manage all HR processes, to include but not limited to Return to Work Interviews, Absence Management, Disciplinary Hearings and other formal meetings as requested by the HR Department and Operations Manager.

·Set up and assist in the mobilisation of new contracts

·Value for money, quality and timely procurement of goods from suppliers

·Acting as a coach to all team members, focusing on Grounds Maintenance Operatives

·Ensuring the security of CGM sites in your sphere of responsibility, at all times including being responsible for the opening and lock up of the building at the beginning and end of the day

·Working with the administration team to ensure that programmes meet the needs of the client and the business whilst using the skills of your team accurately

This list is not exhaustive and role holders will be expected to carry out any other tasks required by the Management team to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the Company

Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Essential

Full UK Driving Licence

Working knowledge of managing teams in a positive environment

Proven record in supporting business growth through sales

Ability to identify future opportunities and develop them to increased sales

Self-managing using own initiative

Good verbal communication skills

Literacy and numeracy skills

Coaching approach to people development

PA1 and PA6

Horticultural knowledge
