Alive is the UK’s leading charity enriching the lives of older people in care and training their carers. We are seeking a talented individual to lead social and therapeutic horticulture workshops with older people in care homes, including people living with dementia. Workshop activities will include horticulture, growing fruit, vegetables and flowers to wildlife/nature based activities and nature based crafts. Facilitators will encourage a sense of purpose and achievement, stimulating and facilitating social interaction, engagement and reminiscence within the groups. They will also take the lead on the development and delivery of a community horticultural therapy session in South Bristol, which takes place fortnightly. This is an amazing opportunity to join a vibrant and innovative charity, and to bring enjoyment and vitality to some of the most vulnerable older people in our communities. The role will suit someone with a passion for life, who is in touch with their extrovert side and able to connect easily with others. Experience of facilitating groups and working with vulnerable adults is essential. You will need access to a car and be happy and able to travel around Bristol and the surrounding counties on a regular basis to deliver workshops. You need to be available at least four days per week (Tuesday to Friday). The rate of pay is £11 per hour plus mileage. Full training and mentoring will be provided by our expert team.
