Project Officer - Trees for Schools - South East

From £10,500 to £11,500 per annum £11,500

London, United Kingdom

*This role is a part time role at 18.75 hours, and a 12 month fixed term maternity cover*

ABOUT US
The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.

THE ROLE
The Woodland Trust is embarking on an ambitious partnership with Defra to plant 400,000 trees with our target schools over 4 years. We're looking for a Project Officer on a fixed term basis to promote the project across South East England.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll use your sales and communication skills to engage eligible schools, ensuring that they apply for Defra funded tree packs where appropriate. You’ll meet ambitious project targets by promoting the project directly to schools, and providing guidance on planting and aftercare where required.

THE CANDIDATE
With experience of promoting a project, product or service, you'll be able to build effective relationships with schools to persuade them to engage with the project and plant trees. Experience of working with schools and understanding the school system would be ideal.

This is a part time position working across two full days and one half day per week, based at home. Regular travel will be required throughout the region as you'll be setting up visits to schools to promote and advise on the tree packs. You'll also be expected to attend regular meetings at the Woodland Trust head office in Grantham therefore a full driving licence is essential along with the ability to undertake extensive travel across a wide area.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
There's no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
