Transition Countdown
The UK is now in a 'transition period' until December 31 2020. During this time, all laws and trading arrangements remain the same. At the beginning of 2021, the departure will become complete - hence the new countdown - unless the PM chooses to extend the transition. He has, however, pledged not to do this and codified his promise in law.

Quote Of The Week

“If this is true, it is an outrageous betrayal of the British people and deeply worrying for our farmers. The UK should be leading the way in high-quality, high-welfare food, not bending over backwards to please the United States” - Kath Dalmeny, chief executive of food and farming alliance Sustain, on reports that the Government is intending to accept US food safety standards at the WTO

Brexit Prep Tip

See Brexit as an opportunity to evaluate your business

“Profit as a percentage of turnover is not very widely used, but farmers should be looking to target 15 per cent. At that level they would be able to afford to invest, draw a reasonable living and have a business which is sustainable for the future.”

Mike Houghton, Andersons, speaking at the Dairy Show
