Our prestigious Automotive client based in Dunton, Essex is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engine Dyno Technician to work within our Clients ever expanding Powertrain department on a full time basis.
This is a brilliant opportunity for the chosen candidate to work in a very modern and luxurious working environment. The successful Engine Dyno Technician will be working a 37.5-hour week with access to onsite parking.
Interface with workshop and test facilities department to prepare engines for dyno testing, performance and emissions calibration development to homologation stage
Ensure that calibration dynos are operating with representative engine hardware (ordering/receiving and updating of parts)
Specify and arrange installation of required instrumentation with relevant workshop groups
Support various controlled test on various Powertrain units
Accurate collection and validation of data to prove integrity
Implement, monitor and document daily check point strategy for each engine/dyno, provide quality check of the data collected
Initial assessment of engine performance data (perform dyno data quality check/ Gauge R&R)
Liaise with supporting staff, engineers, supervisors and customers on a technical level
Support and implementation of test plans to support inter- and external-dyno team activities (providing support to durability dynos)
Provide support to test area for system fault diagnosis
This role requires interface with multiple functions; Core Engineering, Finance, Powertrain Planning, Purchase etc.
Knowledge of Dyno cell equipment and engine installation components
Specific knowledge of AVL Puma Test control system and the setting up of MEI, UUT etc. an advantage
Sufficient knowledge and skills to enable first line fault diagnosis
Ability to organize mechanical repairs and investigative work
Good communication skills in English language, written and oral
Ability to get others on board with assigned tasks
A team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a keen interest in Powertrain development
Familiarity with standard PC applications required (with company specific systems an advantage
Knowledge of Dyno cell equipment and system including engine installation components; specific knowledge of AVL Puma Test control system and the setting up of MEI, UUT etc. an advantage
Candidates must have good analytical, and presentation skills (oral and written) and demonstrate ability to manage spread sheets
Experience of Diesel Engines and knowledge of their design
Experienced in dealing with workshop environment/processes
Background within Engineering
Experience of Powertrain and /or Powertrain Calibration Systems beneficial
Experience in a similar cross function liaison role would be desirable
Appropriate Technical qualification or time served in recognised apprenticeship
