HGV Fleet Mechanic / Technician

£38000 - £45000/annum Dependant on Experience

We are looking to recruit a HGV Mechanic for lorries with cranes, tractor units etc to carry out maintenance and repairs work on our fleet of HGV vehicles and trailers and provide technical support, from fault analysis through to completion.

You need to be able to produce technical work to the highest standards and in line with strict Health & Safety requirements for equipment, machines and tools. It calls for having organisational skills to maintain clear documentation, records and to meet deadlines also.

Key responsibilities will be to:

• Carry out general maintenance repair work on the company's fleet of vehicles and trailers
• Ensure all vehicles are in safe working order
• Carry out all repairs to the highest standards
• Carry out in-depth engineering work and diagnostics
• Be able to operate individually or within a close team
• Carry out all repairs in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation and company policy
• Operate all relevant equipment, machines and tools safely
• Complete associated documentation

As such we would like you to:

• Be educated to City & Guilds standard in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline is essential
• Have experience as a HGV Mechanic or have extensive experience working with trailers, crane lorries, tractor units and drawbars
• Must be capable of following the repair process from fault analysis to completion
• Have the ability to multi task and achieve key deadlines
• Demonstrate rigorous fault finding skills
• Have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Good understanding of fabrication and welding would be advantageous; however specialist training would be provided
• Demonstrate good communication skills
• Flexible approach to work
• Be able to provide excellent service under pressure

You must also have a full clean HGV Class 1 license and your own transport too.
