This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven Mechanical Engineer with a positive "can do" attitude to join my client at their food packaging plant in York.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and performance improvement tasks to maximise equipment availability.
Other duties include the installation and commissioning of equipment and executing routine safety checks and calibration of machinery and equipment.
Although the role is predominantly a Monday-Friday day role, there is a requirement to provide shift breakdown cover as part of a rota at weekends.
This role will be right for you if you are an engineer with a proactive attitude who has the following skills;
*Minimum of 3 years Mechanical Engineering experience (ideally within the food industry)
*A recognised Engineering qualification or apprenticeship
*Fabrication/Welding (TIG welding preferable)
*A good working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
The ideal candidate;
Live within twenty miles / half an hour of York as you will need to respond swiftly to call outs.

Must have own transport and be prepared to work overtime at weekends as part of a rota.
