The Farm

The farm milks 800 cows twice a day, calving all year round. The cows will obtain, as much from forage as possible be it grazing or silage.


The Role

The main task will be to assist in the general duties of the farm including;

  1. Feeding the calves with adequate colostrum, to be monitored through zst`s at the young stock unit. Calf feeding both feeds.
  2. Calving cows, including the management of far away and close up groups. Mg in the water, reporting calving problems and associated diet problems.
  3. Relief milking on holidays.
  4. Fertility - visits, bulling checks,
  5. Bedding and scrapping.
  6. Help with and occasionally feed. Using the mixer wagon.
  7. Slurry irrigation (Briggs).
  8. Some tractor fieldwork, rolling, chain harrowing.

Hours will be ten per day, based on a six day week, one weekend working in two.
Tidiness and cleanliness of the overall farm is paramount for it future development within the Estate and securing outside contracts.


A programme of training will be drawn up to enable all of the areas of work and skills to be achieved. Including Health and Safety.


Can put together training packages and schemes for those with a keen interest and show commitment and drive to progress their learning. This can include any tickets, AI, foot trimming, associated courses and training etc.

Accommodation:
Single accommodation in the form of 1 bedroom cottage, option of a fully furnished one or un-furnished one. Suitable for single person or couple only.
Additional Info This is a permanent role and as such you will be directly employed by the client not through Farm Solutions!
