Our client, a Leading Multi-disciplinary Consultancy whos rapidly expanding team deliver technical services, supporting national and international clients to protect and enhance the environment.They are currently looking for an Ecologist to assist with their busy workload in Devon.
The immediate focus of the role will be to support the existing team in identifying and delivering ecological survey works to support the construction programme. Responsibilities will include ecological pre-construction survey and site sign-off, ecological clerk of works function, coordination of surveying and reporting (e.g. Phase 1, protected species and EcIA), EPS advice, project management, client liaison, , licence applications, technical briefings and presentations to site teams, overseeing ecological mitigation, and leading and mentoring other ecologists.
The successful candidate:
-A degree in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Biology, Environmental Science (with a strong ecology focus) or similar
-Construction project experience
-Project Management skills and experience
-Significant experience of managing ecology workload on major projects in a consultancy setting
-Licences for surveying protected species (e.g. bats, dormouse, great crested newt , white-clawed crayfish)
-Excellent understanding of UK wildlife legislation and relevant planning policy
-Experienced technical report writer
-Experience with EIA and HRA
-EPS Mitigation licence application experience (desirable)
-Good experience of safe working practices and risk assessment related to ecology fieldwork
-Experience of leading other ecologists
-A full UK driving License
