Experienced Garden Maintenance Operative

£17,000 per annum

Job Description

We are a small, friendly, family run High Wycombe based local company that is passionate about the residential gardens we look after.

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Gardener, preferably with several years behind them who needs little or no training to be given to them in all aspects of garden maintenance and therefore suits someone 30 years or older due to trailer towing and driving laws.

Please note: Candidates without the appropriate Horticultural experience will not be considered.

From April until December we concentrate solely on garden maintenance in no more than a 10 mile radius of High Wycombe. From January through to March we then turn our hands to soft and hard landscaping, Garden restoration, Pressure washing, Fencing and Tree work.

During the busiest time of the year you will be one of a two person team looking after customer's gardens on a fortnightly cycle every day, five days a week.

So it is essential to have good people skills in order to build up a raport as you will deal with regular customers on a day in day out basis.

A van and all tools will be supplied in order to get to and from work in business hours.

Work hours are 08.00 - 17.00 (An 8 hour work day with lunch breaks taken at your discretion)

The successful applicant will start their first day of work on Tuesday the 29th May 2018

Responsibilities and Duties

Duties will include all aspects of grounds and garden maintenance.

You will be the sole van driver of the team and therefore responsible for the vehicle both at work and at home.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate must possess the following skills and certificates

  • Experience in garden maintenance at domestic/residential sites
  • Good interpersonal communication skills in order to deal with customers
  • Well presented and reliable
  • Physically fit and hard working
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Happy to work outside in all weathers
  • Knowledge and ability to use a wide range of petrol driven machinery
  • Proficient in:
  • ground preparation
  • Tree, shrub, perennial, etc planting
  • Turfing
  • Pruning
  • Hand weeding
  • Leaf blowing and collection
  • Hedge-trimming
  • Have a genuine interest in plants and horticulture
  • Hold a Valid Full UK Drivers licence
  • NPTC PA1 & PA6a Spraying certificate, (this will enhance your job application but is not essential)
