Are you looking for the rewards of living in an island community and have skills and experience to deliver health and social care service? Orkney, voted the "best rural place to live in Britain" for two years running, is working hard to become the best remote and rural health care provider in the UK.

Orkney's health and social care partnership is seeking to recruit a professionally qualified Service Manager for Adult community services with a level of experience to effectively lead and develop change whilst ensuring a strong commitment to service excellence.

The Orkney Health and Care partnership (OHAC) was established in 2012 and has been delivering services across the islands using innovative approaches supported by the integration agenda in a remote and rural setting. The partnership want to build on their values based reputation of working closely with people who use services, their carers, communities and partners in other sectors, and to develop services that are sustainable and fit for the future for Orkney.

To do this we are looking for someone with previous experience of leading and managing staff to deliver high quality services. The post holder will be part of a general management team supported by a professional leadership structure. They will be responsible for services commissioned by the Integration Joint Board including Residential Care, Supported Accommodation, Day Care and community health services delivered by Community Nurses and AHPs. The role also includes commissioning and monitoring of services provided by external providers.

You will be an experienced manager confident of delivering safe and effective services, within limited resource availability, in the context of rural island provision.

Lying off the northern coast of Scotland, between John O'Groats and Shetland, Orkney is an archipelago of over 70 beautiful islands, 17 of which are inhabited. The total population is approximately 22,000 with most people living on the Mainland. The excellent ferry and air connections make travel to the Scottish mainland relatively easy. There is a rich archaeological history to be explored, as well as many outdoor pursuits.

Rise to the challenge and enjoy the opportunity - Orkney is a wonderful place to live and work and offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools, good leisure facilities, unique wildlife and amazing scenery.

The successful applicant will be able to choose which partner organisation they prefer to be formally employed by.
