A fantastic opportunity for a Production Manager has arisen in a high-growth, family owned food business in Cornwall. This is a very successful family owned business with a great reputation in their marketplace. Recently winners of multiple awards for their dairy products, the company is experiencing a period of growth where it is anticipated it will double in size. To facilitate this growth they are strengthening their teams across the site and a new Production Manager is required. As Production Manager you lead a large team in the Production department and report into the Production Director. You will take responsibility for the typical tasks in a production department such as meeting the production plan, ensuring product quality, maintaining a safe working environment and developing the team. You will deliver against agreed targets for productivity, labour, wastage and profitability while improving the processes and systems in your department. The business is looking to implement lean manufacturing techniques across the site and so needs a Production Manager who is able to support in delivering change. This will be someone who is detail focused, can skilfully delegate tasks and keep people accountable for a projects progress. As a family owned company the support structure is smaller than that of a blue chip organisation so you must be adaptable and able to implement these improvements in a smaller structure. For this role we are looking for someone with solid food manufacturing experience who understands the retailer codes of practice. You will have excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills and ability to build relationships up and down the company hierarchy. A background in the manufacturing and processing of dairy products, followed by chilled foods, would be most suitable.
