Transport Planner

£29000 - £30000/annum Excellent salary + benefits

An experienced Transport Planner is sought by a global agricultural and animal nutritional manufacturer to join their team based in Peterborough.

The Role:

Reporting to the Wholesale Logistics Manager, as a Transport Planner you will organise and manage the day to day transport activity of a fleet of vehicles to deliver Wholesale products to a wide range of agricultural farms and businesses. Your day to day duties will include:

- Effective planning and organisation of the vehicle fleet to ensure site clearance targets and customer deliveries of animal feed are achieved in the most cost effective manner
- Effectively and accurately managing available driver and vehicle resources. Liaising with external Driver Hire agencies where applicable to ensure the correct resource is in place
- Working closely with the Logistics Co-ordinators finding opportunities to smooth the volume across the week to ensure maximum efficiency by utilising the customer`s flexible delivery options
- Maintain operational system held data to ensure it is accurate and up to date, for example planning rules and customer specific information
- Work with the wider management team to ensure the customers` expectations are managed in a communicative and proactive manner
- Support the Transport Manager to manage the vehicles and drivers
- Create and maintain "plan vs actual" KPIs
- Use vehicle tracking software to track progress and identify issues, and efficiencies
- Feedback driver performance to Management Team
- Ensure safety protocols and O`Licence legal compliance requirements are adhered to whilst planning

The successful Transport Planner will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

- Experience of transport / fleet planning
- Experience of using Paragon planning system
- Full UK driving licence
- Willing to work some evenings and weekends as required
- Good communicator at all levels, both verbally and written
- Willing to take responsibility and challenge behaviours
- Cope well under pressure
- Able to make decisions and solve problems

Desirable:

- Good IT skills with a willingness to learn new ones
- Strong understanding of Microsoft excel
- CPC National Holder
- Experienced of demand planning
