LAMMA is the UK’s largest agricultural trade show, where over 850 exhibitors will host the most extensive array of farm machinery, equipment, and services to be found in one location anywhere in the UK.
The Vehicle Technician is responsible for the service and repair of Government Owned Vehicles (GOV). They will also be part of a team who provide accident and breakdown cover on 24/7 basis.
This role would suit a qualified Mechanic looking for something a little different to what you are used to. At RAF Croughton, we are a friendly team and work in a relaxed environment.
Repair and maintain a fleet of 80 Vehicles. 60% + of the vehicles are U.S Spec and Left hand drive.
Range of Vehicles: * HGV 6x4 Tractor * HGV Trailers * U.S Spec Fire Trucks * U.S Spec Police Cars * U.S Spec 8 Pax Vans * Various U.K Spec cars
* Repair and maintain a varied range of equipment (including tail lifts, generators etc). * Ensure that all repairs are carried out in accordance with Air Force Instructions and the Ministry of Transport Regulations. * Refuel, wash and vacuum vehicle(s) when required. * Perform driving duties when required by the VM Supervisor or Site Manager. * Drive vehicles safely and show due consideration to other road users. * Ensure driving skills maximise fuel efficiency and minimise risk to self, vehicle and other road users. * Any other contractual duties as required by the VM Supervisor or Site Manager.
Skills, experience and qualifications: * Must have a full clean UK Driving License * NVQ Level 3 Maintenance Qualification or Equivalent * It is desirable but not essential if you hold * Hold Drivers Certificate or Professional Competence (CPC) – Desirable * Mobile Air Conditioning Qualification – Desirable * Experience in road side recovery + trailer (+E) * Diagnostic experience * Tyre changing and balancing * Forklift license * Inspect and repair to MOT standards
The role is subject to gaining the appropriate Security Clearance. You will be expected to be part of the emergency call out roster which is approximately 1 week in 3.
