IT Estate Manager, Cable management, Ducting, 3rd party, construction, CAD, blueprints

The role is to provide an interface between the IT and Estate Development departments, planning, designing, documenting and checking all aspects of site wide ducting and cabling and being the liaison point between the IT and Estate Development departments for all technology infrastructure initiatives which require physical connectivity.

Act as the main liaison point between the Estate Development team and the IT team,
understanding strategic priorities and advising on specific works which affect
containment and cabling connectivity
Lead the Superhighway initiative for strategic ducting around campus - concept, design,
planning, delivery - ensuring that this integrates with the programme of work
Lead on tactical cabling and ducting initiatives, including managing containment routes and
capacities for ongoing operations and new project requirements
Representation of the IT team at all EDT planning and project review meetings which affect
technology infrastructure
QA of cabling and containment documentation, ensuring that plans and drawings
are maintained as current

IT technical lead, and where appropriate, the Design Authority for the following upcoming projects:
IT Superhighway
Liaise with external sub-contractors, when necessary, to develop and support the
cabling and containment strategy; this will include architects, engineers and project managers (e.g.
KSS, Hopkins, ME Engineers, Vanguardia, RG Jones and others)

Skills required:
An understanding of CAD drawings
The successful candidate must have recent, practical experience in large IT
infrastructure/cabling projects
Experience of installing and supporting a variety of cabling technologies, including blown
fibre
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people, both senior and junior, throughout the organisation
Good organisational and problem-solving skills, and close attention to detail
Focused and goal orientated approach
A flexible approach and ability to prioritise and multi task
Ability to 'think outside the box' in finding solutions to challenging issues
Demonstrate an understanding of BSI standards in structured cabling infrastructure
