Job Role: Assistant Herd Manager in Norfolk
This is a 350 cow herd expanding, block autumn calving, grass based system with yields averaging 7,500 litres. They are seeking someone who is able to take the position of assistant herdsman/ tractor driver, taking responsibility when the manager is off or away.
To take on responsibility for a mixed role including fertility, feet, milking on a relief basis, yard work, relief feeding, grassland management but also involvement in all other aspects of managing and to become an intrinsic part of the system, working alongside the manager.
Access to training and discussion groups, along with the opportunity to work on a well equipped farm, practicing a well disciplined block autumn calving, paddock grazing system. The ideal candidate would be someone who has worked on a grass based system before, although wouldn`t rule out anyone who has been working on a high yielding system looking for the experience of your type of operation.

There is a 2 bedroom farmhouse available about a mile from the dairy and is currently vacant, but would not be a long term solution, as they now have planning permission to build a new house at the dairy for the manager, which will create a 3 bedroom semi-detached cottage for the assistant role.
This is a contract position, where the successful person will operate as an agency worker with Farm Solutions. This means that the person will not have sub-contractor responsibilities and all statutory tax deductions and payments will be made by Farm Solutions on their behalf. Hourly pay operates, which includes pay for overtime hours worked.
