Hadlow College (part of the Hadlow Group), situated in the heart of Kent with centres in south London and east Kent, boasts an extensive and thriving Champion dairy herd, consisting of 130 pedigree Holstein cows with an average yield of 10,000 litres using the TMR system. This is an element of the commercial farms which include 700 head of sheep; poultry and pig enterprises; arable estates and Beef. This is an exciting time to shape our educational and commercial future.
We are looking for a dynamic, open minded and proactive Dairy Herd Manager with substantial experience to work on this progressive dairy and be involved in shaping its future. This is an extraordinary opportunity; working for a fast pace dairy enterprise whilst developing our students for industry. Students are at the Centre of everything we do and ability to engage with post 16 individuals is fundamental.
The duties will involve carrying out all tasks associated with the highly efficient management of the Blackman’s Lane Dairy facility, Hadlow, including milking, breeding, Herd Husbandry and accurate record keeping. Supervision of students on morning milking duties is a requirement, as well as maintaining appropriate standards of environmental and safety management and providing tuition support for FE and HE students.
This is a residential role and subsidised accommodation is provided in the form of a spacious on site 3-bedroom facility with a garden and good public transport links to Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone and London. Involvement into group management, and the ethos of Hadlow College will be expected unequivocally.

Further expansion of the role may also include opportunities to contribute to the curriculum delivery, with sponsorship to under the relevant teaching qualification. Possession of a certificate in rough terrain forklift driving is essential and MO1 tractor driving would be desirable. In addition, a willingness to work flexible hours is required, as is the ability to work every other weekend plus bank holidays.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and provide proof of their right to work in the UK.
