Are you a bright, energised optimist who approaches communications differently? At Responsible Travel we help travellers live their travel dreams, while ensuring local people and wildlife benefit. We also aim to be a catalyst for change in the tourism industry. Responsible Travel is the world's largest online travel company specialising in responsible tourism. We offer over 5,000 holidays, across 180 countries. Every trip on our site is screened for its commitment to responsible tourism. In addition, we are an online publisher, publishing over 400 travel guides and articles. The company has been around since 2001 and has grown rapidly in 2017 and we aim to expand our reach further in 2018 with the help of this new role. About the role: We are looking for an exceptional, experienced PR and an ‘alternative’ thinker, to build and lead a new PR team. You will be responsible for building the brand’s profile in the consumer, ethical and business media, primarily online. You will also manage how we share our stories with our customers; delivering marketing content for our weekly ezines sent to our large customer database. You’ll be an articulate advocate of our views and policies on responsible tourism. You’ll work with the CEO, the company’s main spokesperson, to craft the PR strategy as well as media stories and media responses. You’ll also work closely with, and manage the Marketing Manager and will have the scope to recruit one additional member of staff. You’ll also work closely with our Film Editor, Head of Content, Head of Special Projects, Director of Customer & Marketing and the Director of Operations. You will have an excellent strategic mind and will be involved in communications policy and decision making at a senior level. You’ll be adept at dealing with conflicting demands from senior leaders in a small team, showing adaptability as well as the ability to make decisions. Using our voice to help make the tourism industry a more caring place is crucial to us so an excellent written ability is essential, as is an eye for news opportunities and crafting interesting, stand out media stories around responsible tourism issues and Responsible Travel’s holidays. Your ability to learn, understand and communicate complex issues in responsible tourism will be outstanding, as will your attention to detail. You’ll bring excellent media contacts to the role and will be responsible for crafting our global PR campaigns, liaising and meeting with journalists, pitching and writing content and surveying relevant media for opportunities. You’ll also need to be able to communicate effectively with Responsible Travel’s 400 partners around the world to help develop your stories, as well as 20+ staff across the company. Relationship building will come very naturally to you. Travel experience is not essential but most likely you’ll have an unshakeable passion for travel, the outdoors or nature. You’ll also be committed to the belief that good business can change the world. This role is full time and based in the Responsible Travel office in central Brighton, UK. You must be eligible to work in the UK to apply. We welcome applications from outstanding PR experts whatever your background, ethnicity or orientation. For more information or to apply please email your CV and covering letter to Tim Williamson, Director of Customer & Marketing at email@example.com Closing date for applications: Tues 16th Jan 2018 No agencies please.
