Texels top Newark Winter Warmer with gimmer at 3,800gns

TEXELS topped Newark’s winter warmer sale of pedigree in-lamb ewes and ewe lambs, were there was a bumper demand across all sections.

Sale leader was the pre-sale champion, a Texel gimmer from the Mellor Vale flock of Charlie Boden, Mellor. A daughter of Strathbogie Whiplash out of a dam by Milnbank Special One, it sold in-lamb to Teiglum Young Gun to Andrew and Becky Bishop, Eldersfield, for 3,800gns.

 

Following at 1,800gns was a gimmer from Gordon Gray of the Ettrick flock, Selkirk. This was an ET daughter of Shannagh Won-O-Won and out of a Sportsman-bred ewe. In-lamb to Clinterty Yuga Khan, it went to Tom Williams, Felton.

 

At the same was another from Mr Gray, in the shape of a gimmer by Douganhill Vital Spark. In-lamb to the same sire, it sought a bid from David Morrison, Barr.

 

Beltex

Beltex

EWE lambs led the Beltex prices, with a lot from Claire Harrison, Braunston, at 1,800gns. This was Clarison Crystal, a Dooley Amazing daughter out of the imported dam Regente Du Mont Des Alouettes, which sold to J.M.L. Farming, Thame.

 

At 1,700gns was another lamb from the same pen, the breed champion Clarison Clodagh. By the same sire and out of the imported dam Quira Du Mont Des Alouettes, it was bought by the pre-sale judge, Matt Prince, Chesterfield.

 

In-lamb Beltex hit 1,300gns for a gimmer from Andrew and Becky Bishop, who sold a daughter of The Bulldog in-lamb to Woodies Beyond Limits to Rosie Boden, Stockport.

Blue Texels

Blue Texels

Blue Texel prices were led by the dispersal of Harry and Jake Pamplin’s Midnight flock, Northamptonshire, topping at 1,800gns for Midnight YumYum, a 2014-born ewe by AFS/11/00258 out of a Shearstone-bred dam. It sold in-lamb to a Millside sire to Messrs Comer, Leigh.

 

Next at 1,600gns was Midnight Willow, a 2013-born ewe bred the same way as the sale topper, also in-lamb to the Millside sire. The buyer was Giles Hardman, Low Bands.

 

Rachael McMaster, Reigate, bought the leading ewe lamb, Xana Bliss, at 1,200gns from Mandy Friend and Emma Carr, Kent.

Suffolks

SUFFOLK’s sold to 600gns for a gimmer from the Seagrave entry of J.W. Hallam and S.M. Eggleston, Loughborough. This was a Birness Presidential daughter out of a Jubilee Too Grand daughter, which sold in-lamb to Kings Rock of Ages to Tom Williams, Felton.

 

Charollais

BEST of the Charollais at 550gns was a gimmer from Geoff Biddulph, Cheshire. By Trannon Pacific and out of a homebred ewe, It was snapped by Robert Lowe, Little Dalby, in-lamb to Elmwick Preston.

Bleu Du Maine

A SMALL offering of Bleu Du Maine ewe lambs from Jonathan McInnes Skinner, Norfolk, peaked at 550gns for Ernford Philippa. This is a daughter of Ernford Nugget out of a ewe by Ernford Jackal. The buyer was Swallows Farm, Goole.
