The championship went to Weeton Princess Chartreuse R467, a June 2015-born heifer by Rettie JFK out of Blelack Princess Chartreuse from Donald Rankin, Isle of Skye, which was bought at its breeder, John Loftus’ sale last October. The reserve, Morpheus Rosebud S028, 10-month-old heifer from Owen Tunney, Northwich is by Oakchurch Evor out Elliot Rosebud

H847 which was also bought, in-calf, from Mr Loftus at the same sale.

Denzie Hamish, a January 2016-born bull calf by Dinton Nautical out of Auroch Eve claimed the Simmental calf championship for Michael Barlow, Preston. Standing reserve champion was Storersmith Ghost Rider an August 2015-born bull calf by Popes Barclay out of Storersmith Electra from R. and L. Storersmith.

Taking the British Blue calf championship was the February 2016 –born heifer, Clifftown Luckystar, a Tweedale Ebony daughter out of Jobarde de Fooz from Dylan Townend, Malton. The reserve champion rosette went to Ian McGarva, Biggar with 10-month-old Abington Lionel, by Corrandulla Finton out of Abington Harriet.

The supreme award went to T. and D. Harrison, Stocksfield, Northumberland with Moralee 1 Northumberland, a 12-month-old son of Mallowburn 1 Jumpy Jack out of Moralee 1 Kylie. In reserve was Fardre 1 Ms Gweno, a February 2016-born heifer by Harvie High Rollerout of HS Gwen from G.H. Morgan, Abergele.

Beef Shorthorn Calf Show

The champion Beef Shorthorn calf was Elliot Echo 340, an April 2016-born heifer by Star P Matrix out of SBF WHR Janet from John Elliot, Kelso. In reserve was Shawhill Kenco, a March 2016-born bull calf by Shawhill Henderson out of Glenisla Eva Broadhooks from Thompson, Roddick and Laurie, Lockerbie.
