Ballinlare herd leads Stirling Charolais trade at 16,000gns

BALLINLARE Phantom led the trade for Charolais at Stirling bull sales selling for 16,000gns, with the 66 bulls averaging £7,121, up £347 on the year, with a 71 per cent clearance rate.

The sale topper, consigned by J.H. Wilson and Sons, Newry, Co Down, was a 20-month-old son of Balthayock Justice out of Ballinlare Isis.

 

It sold in a two-way split to R.M. Adam and Son, Glamis, Angus, and M.J. Massie, Ellon.

The second top price of 14,000gns was for Solwayfirth Peterpan, a 17-month-old son of Glenericht Majestic out of Solwayfirth Charity, from I. and D. Goldie, Annan. The buyer was G.M. Jones, Bala.


Three bulls sold for 12,000gns. The first was Elgin Pele, a 22-month-old bull by Westcarse Houdini out of Elgin Electra consigned by R.A. Milne, Elgin. It was knocked down to James Moir, Banff.

Three bulls sold for 12,000gns. The first was Elgin Pele, a 22-month-old bull by Westcarse Houdini out of Elgin Electra consigned by R.A. Milne, Elgin. It was knocked down to James Moir, Banff.


The next bull making 12,000gns was Elrick Patriot by Maerdy Gouverneur and out of Elrick Lass from Messrs Massie, which sold to J. and W. Kellas, Keith.

 

The other bull at 12,000gns, from the same home, was Elrick Poldark, also by Gouverneur, but out of Elrick Florida, which went home with Glass and Smith, Mills of Folis, Aberdeenshire.


Four bulls made 10,000gns. The first being Thrunton Plato consigned by J.H.C. Campbell and Sons, Alnwick. The 22-month-old son of Maerdy Jerusalem out of Thrunton Jessie J, joined W. P. Pringle and Son, Mid Lothian.


Aultmore Phantom by Westcarse Houdini out of Aultmore Lassie from W. Patterson and Son, Keith, was the next to sell for 10,000gns. It went home with R.O. Chandler and Co, Abergavenny.


E. and M. Fairhurst and Son, Lancaster, then paid 10,000gns for Falleninch Paco, a 21-month-old bull by Flleninch Memo out of Falleninch Libby from A.B. Hornall, Stirling.


The final bull to make 10,000gns was Goldies Paul, a 18-month-old son of Balthayock Marquis out of Goldies Jo from Hamish Goldie, Dumfries. It was knocked down to J.S. Fraser, Ross-shire.


At 9,000gns was Carwood Prioneer by Maerdy Magestic from C.J. Wight, Biggar, which sold to Hyslop Farm, Moffat.
