Barber’s Farmhouse Cheesemakers announce a series of three milk price increases totalling 6ppl to take the standard litre milk price to 30.13ppl from February
Barber’s said this will deliver a leading ’milk for cheese’ price in the UK.
New milk supply manager, Michael Masters explained the company’s decision to increase the Barbers milk price.
"Barbers consider that it is an absolute priority to translate the UK & EU dairy market improvement into milk price delivery, providing our farmer suppliers with renewed confidence across this winter.
"Barbers are unique in the UK as milking 2,750 of their own cows, plus sourcing quality milk from 130 farms in Somerset and Dorset and so are acutely aware of the need for the milk price to improve, especially as costs are again rising.
"As our farmhouse cheddar and whey protein powder customer demand continues to grow, we recognise the need to support our farmers to produce the additional milk required.
"Announcing these increases within this ‘price package’ will restore much needed milk price sustainability to our supply chain."
