Beltex sell to 4000gns at Welshpool

Beltex trade at Welshpool was led at 4,000gns by shearling ram Freckleton Wolverine from Colin and Vernon Roots, Southam.

The son of Freckleton Socket out of Freckleton Rioja, a Freckleton Kerron daughter, sold to J. D. R. and J. L. Corbett, Newent, Gloucestershire.

Second best in the males at 1,650gns was another shearling ram, Cennen Wonder from G. J. Williams and Co, Llangadog. By Cennen Steve and out of Cennen Wonder it is a full ET brother to the 2013 Welshpool sale champion. The buyer was T. W. Price, Builth Wells.

Best of ram lambs

Best of ram lambs

Making 1,450gns was the best of the ram lambs, Smart Ass Alpha Male. This son of The Godfather from D. E. Owen, Conwy, sold to C. R. Parry, Llangoed, Beaumaris.

Following that at 1,150gns was another of the shearling tups, Bailey Brook Wannabe from Dermot Costelloe, Market Drayton. By Bailey Brook Tracker, it was knocked down to T. I. M. Hughes, Meifod, Powys.

At the same money was Cennen Wonder from Messrs Williams. Again by Cennen Steve, it sold to S. Amos, Manningtree, Essex.

Heading the females at 1,300gns was the shearling ewe, Tywi Wispa. This one from Ioan Jones, Llanelli is by Rattray’s Stan the Man and out of Tywi Socs, an Ian’s Manitou daughter. It sold to J. and R. Jerman, Whitley-on-Wye.

 

A pair of gimmers then sold at 750gns, with the first of these being Y Bedol Wild Girl from T G Davies, Llanwrda. By Cothi Stripper, it sold to O. J. Talbot, Oswestry.

Also at this price from Gwion Morgan, Rhuthun was Wern Wiwer, a Magnolia De Nobelhaye daughter which went to G. R. Evans, Cerrig, Llanelli.

Shearling ewes, £407.45; ewe lambs £387.63; aged rams, £553; shearling rams £733.22; ram lambs, £526.91
