Beltex breeder Allan Jackson, Lanark, made the top price of 2,500gns in the Beltex Society’s in-lamb sale at Carlisle, with a Damien V/D Drie Musschen-sired shearling.
Out of Southholm Rozanna, which is by Viagrow V/D Drie Musschen, the shearling was bought by M. and C. Millar, Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
T. and J. Bellfield, Longnor, Buxton, paid 2,000gns for a Woodies shearling from Stuart Wood, Westhill, Aberdeen.
It is by Glenkeen Sanders out of Headlind Jellybean.
A Buckles entry, in-lamb to Broxty Supreme, from K. and R. Buckle, Kirkby Stephen sold at the same price to A.J. Wood, Whittingham, Preston, who bought several of the higher priced lots. The February 2014-born twin is by Ardstewart Super Mario out of a home-bred Newton Leo daughter which is sister to high priced rams and gimmers.
The same buyer went to 1,900gns for a Woodies Snoop Dog-sired Artnagullion shearling from Elizabeth McAllister, Ballymena, and inseminated to The Bare Boy. Two others also made 1,900gns.
First up was Orkney Wonder Gir, from Alton and Vera Copland, Orkney. By Artnagullion Ringmaster, it was inseminated to Corstane Whistler and bought by Andrew McCutcheon, Trillick, Co Tyrone. Next, at the same price and bought by James Young, Craigievar, Aberdeen, was a Smart Ass February 2015-born ewe lamb by The Godfather, from D.E. Owen, Conwy.
Ewe lambs took both the championship and reserve. The overall winner, from R. Gregor, Inverurie, made 1,500gns to M. Russell, Biggar, while breeder Matt Burleigh, Co Fermanagh, sold the reserve at 1,800gns to D.R. Dindlay, Middleham, Leyburn.
