Bowberhill Holsteins peak at 7,200gns

The Bowberhill Holstein dispersal on behalf of Malcom and Jean Hutchinson, Kirkby Stephen topped at 7,200gns with the milking herd averaging £3,597 with 39 animals selling for more than £3,000.

The sale leader was a Dorcy daughter, Bowberhill Dorcy Vanessa VG87 bought by R. McNeil, Stranraer who also bought Bowberhill Mogul Gremlin VG88 3yr, by Mogul, for 6,500gns. Its young Oconnors Classic heifer calf sold for 2,200gns to the Robinson family, Leyburn.

 

The youngest milking animal in the sale was Bowberhill McCutchen Barb 2, classified VG86 2yr, only a few weeks calved and a member of the Johns Lucky Barb cow family. It sold for 7,000gns to Eryl Done, Berwick.

 

Bowberhill Lineman Gail bu Comedstar Lineman sold for 6,200gns to Mr McNeil along with Bowberhill Dorcy Lana 2 by Dorcy at 5,000gns. Bowberhill Mogul Papoose VG85 2yr was bought by Jason Booth Dungannon, N. Ireland for 5,100gns.

 

In-calf heifers topped at 4,200gns twice. Firstly, for a Mogul daughter from the Melody cow family carrying a service to Unix and due in August. The buyer was B O’Connor, Co. Cork.

Also selling for 4,200gns was Bowberhill Logrey Doorsopen Mandy by Doorsopen which went to A.L. Dean and Son, Skipton.

 

The heifer calves topped at 2,700gns for Bowberhill Applicable Gremlin 2 by Stantons Applicable which went to Geoffery Patton, Co. Down.

 

Averages - 99 cows and heifers in milk, £3,597; 17 in-calf heifers, £2,665.14; 15 recently served heifers, £2,233;

13 bulling heifers, £1,445.76; 56 heifer calves, £1,444.68; 2 bulls, £2,782.50; 2 bull calves, £1,050; 9 embryos, £437.50.
