A trailer loaded with animals overturned on the M4 this morning, causing the motorway to close in both directions near Swansea, South Wales.

The incident happened as a result of a four vehicle crash at 6:20am this morning (Monday, December 21).

Cattle from the trailer are reported to have been roaming the motorway between junction 45 at Ynysforgan and junction 46 at Llangyfelach.

A second crash happened after a vehicle hit one of the cows.

A spokesperson from South Wales Police said only minor injuries have been reported.
