The police force and an air ambulance attended the scene at about 3.45pm on Tuesday (September 10).
A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: “[The woman] was taken to hospital in Sheffield, where she remains in a critical condition.
“Her dog had been killed by the cows.”
Figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) 2018-19 suggest incidents involving animals were the second top cause of fatality among the community.
