Crewelands Suffolks sells to 9,800gns at Carlisle

THE Crewelands flock from Stephen Sufferin, Co Londonderry led the trade at 9,800gns at the 3-Nations sale of pedigree Suffolk sheep at Carlisle.

The sale leader was a shearling gimmer by Ballynacannon Booty Hunter out of a home-bred ewe by Birness Bravado scanned with twins to Birness Hustler which sold to Darren McMenamin, Co Donegal, Eire.

 

Next making 8,000gns was a shearling gimmer by Limestone Legacy out of a home-bred daughter of Roundacre Real Deal from Stewart Lathangie’s Pyeston flock, Glenrothes, Fife. It sold, carrying twins to Limestone Limited Edition, in a two-way split to Messrs Hutchinson, Kirkby Stephen and Messrs Craft, Leslie, Fife.

 

A shearling gimmer by Strathbogie Sirius out of a dual Royal Highland Show champion from Iain and Judith Barbour’s Solwaybank flock, Annan, sold in-lamb to Crewelands Champion for 4,600gns. It went to the partnership of Messrs Lathangie and Son and Messrs Craft who also paid 4,000gns for a ewe lamb by Malinhead Maverick from Dennis Taylor’s Ballynacannon flock, Coleraine, Northern Ireland.

 

Mark Priestley’s Limestone flock, Co Down topped at 4,500gns for a shearling gimmer by Strathbogie A Kind of Magic carrying twins to Pyeston Pumba. It sold to Messrs Smyth, Co Cavan.

Ballynacannon flock - 8 shearling gimmers, £1,666.88; 4 ewes, £441; 4 ewe lambs, £1,758.75

 

Burnview flock - 4 shearling gimmers, £1,758.75; 1 ewe, £2,730; Bridgeview flock -

2 ewes, £1,312.50

 

Rhaeadr flock - 10 shearling gimmers, £882; 7 ewe lambs, £855.
