THERE was a top price of 4,500gns achieved at the annual two-day show and sale of pedigree Texel sheep, Skipton.
This was paid for the shearling ram Crimple Head Your The Man from Richard Wilson, Harrogate, which had placed second in its class in the pre-sale show.
March-born and by Parkholme Van Dyke, it is out of an Arkle Underdog-sired ewe and sold to John Mellin, Hellifield.
David Towell, of the Moor Top flock, Glusburn Moor, took 3,500gns a piece for two shearling rams by Moor Top Wildfire. First up was Moortop Yahoo, out of a dam by the 3,500gns Moor Top Star, which found a new home with the Priestley family, Brampton. Next to make this money was Moor Top Ya Belter which is out of a daughter by Moor Top Union Jack, which sold to Angela Nairey, Blackburn.
Taking the supreme championship was Steve Richardson, Barnsley, and his shearling ram Stonebridge Ya Belter, a son of the 6,000gns Newbie Mains Winston. Born in February, it has been well placed in the showring all summer and is out of an ET daughter of Allanfauld Rockafella. It was sold for 2,000gns to N.G. Bailey and Co, Ilkely.
Top female at 1,500gns was the first prize shearling ewe and female champion from the Heyworth Lodge flock of Jennifer and Luke Lodge, Doncaster. A daughter of Tophill Union Jack, it was picked up by Steve and Janet Symes, Chorley, for 1,500gns.
Anglezarke Appollo led the ram lamb prices for Steve and Janet Symes, Chorley. By Tophill Wall Street, it fell to the Keighley family, Wharfedale, for 1,900gns.
