'Demand remains for low-houred, well serviced and maintained farm machinery'

Auctioneer George Watchorn commented: “Our sales have all been extremely well supported by farmers and trade buyers alike and it is clear that demand remains for low-houred, well serviced and maintained machinery.

"We have held on-site dispersal sales in several different counties to date this year and our following has strengthened.

"When top quality machinery and equipment is on offer, buyers are not afraid to travel. Having online bidding at all of our onsite sales has also assisted with widening this market, having sold many lots overseas.”

The Brown & Co Auction team’s latest outing was to Carlton Grove in Stokesley, Middlesbrough. The sale showcased a small but quality line up of top class machinery.

“The sale originated from the client changing his farming policy and moving to contract farming.

"Our Agricultural Business Consultancy department worked for the appointed contractor which allowed us to meet with client and identify how we could deal with the now surplus machinery,” explains auctioneer and partner James Walton.

Stand out moments of this particular sale include the spectacular looking line up of valeted tractors and machinery, the 2012 Vaderstad Rapid A 600s 6m drill, the 2012 Bateman RB35 self-propelled sprayer, 2003 John Deere 9400T and the 2013 Claas Lexion 760TT combine harvester all making substantially more than the clients envisaged.

The vendor commented that they were ’surprised with the ferocity of the bidding’.

The Brown & Co Auction team have a further two dispersal sales scheduled for June in East Anglia, one of which showcases an extensive genuine vintage collection of over 70 tractors, 100 ploughs, implements and machinery.
