A new website has been launched to inform primary school children of farming and the story of British wool.
In a bid to engage with a younger demographic, The British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) has launched a new website to provide teachers, parents and school-aged children with information about the story of British wool.
BritishWoolLearning.com will provide teachers with learning resources and lesson plans, as well as assembly ideas, quizzes and games which explore farming, the British wool industry and sheep.
All resources are aimed at children between the age of five and 11 years old.
Tim Booth, marketing manager at the British Wool Marketing Board, said: "We have launched BritishWoolLearning.com as we were keen to effectively engage with a younger audience.
"There are approximately 45,000 sheep farmers in the UK producing up to 30 million kilos of wool annually which is transformed in to many products including interiors, fashion lines, bedding and many others.
"The story of wool, from farm to product is fascinating. It is a huge industry and we need to ensure future generations support it.
"We have tailored the website so that it assists teachers and supports the curriculum, whilst also providing parents and community groups with fun activities that will keep children entertained but informed.”
The site also provides ideas for games and craft projects for parents to keep children occupied during school holidays.
