Dairy advocate goes to one farm a day during #Februdairy to drink milk

Nick Creasy has been travelling to dairy farms across Devon to pledge his support for #Februdairy.

Since the beginning of February, dairy farmers across the industry have been initiating a Twitter revolution by showing what life on their dairy farms consists of, day in and day out.

 

The cause? #Februdairy.

 

It’s the hashtag that is taking over in order to shed some much-needed positivity on dairy production.

 

Everyone from farming to the general public have been backing the campaign, but Nick Creasy has taken it upon himself to personally support the movement.

Nick, 50, who is the operations manager for Young Farmers Clubs across Devon, has been visiting one farm per day to showcase dairy production across the county and, to highlight the difference in scale, management and general workings.

 

Each time he does so he drinks a pint of fresh milk.

 

“It’s a good thing to get behind. It showcases how to react positively to other stories that circulate.

 

“A lot of negativity and aggressive stuff came out Veganuary and dairy is still a product used by the vast majority of the country.

 

“I thought if I can do something positive, I can show off the positives of production.”

 

Community

 

The main point of this Nick says, is to start a trend in only commenting with beneficial and truthful information.

 

If any negativity is picked up on Nicks posts across social media – be it from our industry or activists – it gets deleted.

 

By personally visiting dairy producers, it not only shows sincere willingness for transparency on the farmers behalf, but it allows people to get an insight in to how things really work in the industry and his idea is gaining traction, with many farms messaging him to come and visit them.

 

He has consumed milk from small-scale dairy farms with just twelve cows, to gaining access to a Muller dairy unit.

 

“There are bad people in any industry but misleading messages can be spread so quickly.

 

“We need to make a statement.”
