Free calculators will soon be available for pig and poultry farmers to trial to calculate levels of nitrogen and phosphorus emissions from animals on their farm.
The calculators have been developed on the back of recommendations from AHDB by feed advisers, Mick Hazzledine and Dr Mark Malpass.
Environment and buildings KT manager Emma Slater says the calculators will mean reporting in ’most cases’ will be straightforward with help from feed suppliers.
She says: “The rule changes and reporting requirements can appear daunting to farmers so we sought a straightforward solution that is easy to use and provides consistency and confidence."
The calculators are now ready for trial and can be accessed by emailing Pork.Environment@ahdb.org.uk.
