Regarding your article (Meat tax anger, FG, November 9), right now the vegan diet is supplemented by D3 and B12 often taken in the form of a pill which in turn has gone through an industrial process.
Did they not realise that both these vitamins are derived from animal byproducts?
Will the ‘academics’ also be lobbying to tax fruit from halfway across the globe for its carbon emissions as it’s being shipped here? What about the pesticides and herbicides used by intensive crop farming – will they ask for a tax on those products?
What will then happen to the price and availability of these essential foods if there was a tax in line with their half thought through environmental politics?
So many myths surround the so called vegan diet often accompanied by poor clarity of thought.
Do they not realise that unless they take these natural animal derived vitamins they will suffer immunity problems which will have an enormous impact on the NHS?
Enough of their peculiar politics and time for considered thought with farmers firmly in the driving seat.
