Retailers and carpet manufacturers from across the UK descended on Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge stadium to see the most exciting and innovative wool flooring available on the market.
Organisers said The Wool Floor Show (WFSL), the first event of its kind, had been designed to increase awareness about wool carpets and in turn increase demand from retailers.
Olga Dorojevic, marketing co-ordinator for the British Wool Marketing Board and the Campaign for Wool, said it was vital for manufacturers and retailers to know the benefits of using wool in carpets in order for them to pass on the information to prospective consumers.
The show also saw the launch WoolRetailer.com. The website will focus on and support retailers and flooring consumers.
Key funder of the WFSL event, British Wool, supported the event with a hub dedicated to the unique British story.
“Our wool is grown in the UK on over 45,000 sheep farms. It is very strong and brilliant for carpets," Tim Booth of the British Wool Marketing Board said.
The Campaign for Wool also launched its ‘Wool Specialist’ accreditation course at the event.
