Wes Jennings, production executive at Farmers Guardian is getting ready to complete the Wigan 10k run this weekend (September 4, 2016).

While a 10k run is no mean feat, Wes is completing the event having already run four charity runs this year, with another four left to go, all in aid of The Christie cancer charity.

Mr Jennings decided to take on his mammoth challenge in memory of his father, who passed away 20 years ago.

Dedication

He said: "I have decided to run for The Christie this year as its 20 years since dad passed away from lung cancer and I wanted to do all this running for them as they tried to help him a lot.

"Also it’s kind of a memory for him too. I have seen a lot of families affected by this illness and I wanted to help raise money for The Christie."

Earlier this year, Farmers Guardian's livestock reporter, Louise Hartley sadly passed away at the Christie in Manchester after a short battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer.

Inspiring

Mr Jennings' previous runs this year include the Manchester marathon, the Great Edinburgh Run, the Great Manchester 10k and the Great North 10k.

Speaking of his support so far, he said: "The support for The Christie at these events is amazing and also the other charities as well.

"I have met some truly amazing and inspiring people who make me want to carry on doing it."

Left to run, Mr Jennings has the Wigan 10k (September 4), The Great North Run (September 11), the Chester Marathon (October 2) and the Great Birmingham Run (October 16).
