Grocery sales in the UK have accelerated as the restrictions tighten again although there was limited evidence of stockpiling as seen in March.
According to Kantar, sales accelerated 10.4 per cent in the four weeks to October 12.
Sales of flour increased 64 per cent in the seven days from September 21.
However, Nabim has moved to reassure consumers there would be no flour shortages and discourage panic buying with mills working to meet demand from the UK’s love of baking during lockdown and while the The Great British Bake Off is being broadcast.
Shoppers were also choosing to stick with online deliveries as the pandemic continues, with Ocado increasing its number of shoppers driven by its partnership with Marks & Spencer.
