A Charolais maiden heifer owned by Mortimers Farms took the top honours in the beef lines at Buckinghamshire County Show.

The yearling, Mortimers Lambada, sired by Mortimers Hurricane, runs as part a 100-strong herd in Fair Oak, Hampshire.

Shown by Donald Maclean, she was named reserve junior champion at the National Charolais Show and will next appear at Berkshire Show.

Judge Danny Wyllie said the young heifer showed a lot of promise and was an excellent example of the breed.

In reserve was another young heifer, this time from W. J and M. Mash, Chesham, Buckinghamshire.

The limousin Ronick Jingo, sired by Rathconville Eugene, was shown by Joe Clark and runs with 100 other beef cattle.

She was bought in last year and has enjoyed success in the breed classes at both the Limousin International Show and the Royal Highland.

She will next appear at Berkshire Show.

In the dairy inter-breed rings it was a Holstein owned by Roger Steeples which clinched the red ribbons.

Cramar Brasilia Cutes, born in January 2014, was home bred and is part owned by J. R. A. Steeples and Oliver Williams.

The Steeples family sold off the herd two years ago.

The heifer, which has only been lightly shown this year, was named junior champion and reserve Holstein champion at Newark and Notts and champion Holstein heifer and reserve champion Holstein at the Livestock Event.

Reserve to the Holstein was a four-year-old Jersey owned by Beverley Clear and shown by her daughter Zoe, aged 16.

It was the first time on the show circuit for Pierrepont Farm’s Discovery Hovborgs Catherine.

The family milk 120 Jerseys in Farnham, Surrey. Mrs Clear said: “This is quite an objectional cow but she just clicked with Zoe. They’ve got a real bond.”

The reserve Holstein was R. A. and S. Arnott and son’s Flintstone Sam Rox, a 2010 born fourth calver running with the 100 cow herd in Kings Langley.

The reserve Jersey was the Barnowl Jersey Stud’s four-year-old Barnowl Viscount Victoria 3.

A Charollais shearling ram was victorious in the sheep supreme championship.

Owned by Jennifer Curtis, Wickhamford, Evesham, the homebred ram runs with a flock of 150 pedigrees.

In reserve was a Southdown from B. Cooper based in nearby Weston Turville, Aylesbury.
