Farms employing seasonal workers can register for free workplace testing to meet new requirements, the Government has announced.
Employers can register up to April 12 to receive free test kits until the end of June, which could protect growers from taking on the cost of regular Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing and save an estimated £10 million.
It follows the introduction of a new testing regime for international arrivals this weekend (April 3 and 4), which requires people who are in the UK longer than two days to take a test before the end of day two and a further test every three days.
Farming Minister Victoria Prentis said regular testing protects businesses, helps keep workers safe and was vital to continuing recovery and urged farmers and growers to work with Government to protect their workforces, their businesses and food supply.
