Hereford bulls and females both sell to 5,200gns

TRADE was brisk at the Hereford Cattle Society sale at Hereford with both bulls and females peaking at 5,200gns.

Hereford bulls and females both sell to 5,200gns #UKBeef #ShowsandSales

The first at this money was female champion Dendor 1 Anna Mary 26, from D.E., E.D. and A.L. Jones, Newtown, Powys. The 25-month-old heifer, by Solpoll 1 Gilbert and in-calf to Danish bull SMH Euro 30E, sold to A.G. Whittle, Heywood, Lancashire.


From the same vendors, 23-month-old Dendor 1 Lily 19, by the same sire and in-calf to Canadian bull Harvie Jarva 52J, sold for 3,600gns to P.D. and J.M. Vaughan, Leominster. The Joneses also sold 25-month-old Dendor 1 Greta 19, also in-calf to Harvie, for 3,500gns to R.J. Windsor, Nantwich, and 14-month-old Dendor 1 Anna Mary 30, by SMH Euro 30E, for 3,200gns to S.E. Coar, Preston.


Panmure 1 Plum M6, a 23-month-old heifer from J.M. Cant and Partners, Tayside, sold for 3,600gns Messrs Vaughan.


In the bull section, it was reserve senior male champion, 18-month-old Panmure 1 Mumford, by Panmure 1 Karl, from the Cants which sold for the top price of 5,200gns. Buyers were John Torrance and Sons, Hamilton, Lanarkshire.


The Cants also took the reserve grand male championship with Panmure 1 Monster, which sold for 4,800gns to J.E., R.I. and W. Haire, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Dendor Herefords took the grand male championship with junior champion Dendor 1 Napoleon, which was knocked down for 5,000gns to J.D. and R.A. Moorhouse, Taunton, Somerset.
