JCB has launched a fresh recruitment drive in addition to offering permanent contracts for hundreds of agency employees as demand for construction equipment continues to soar.
The manufacturer has announced it will recruit an additional 450 agency workers for factories in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wrexham, as well as a further 400 permanent contracts to those with more than one year’s service later this year.
This is in addition to an announcement last month it was hiring 400 agency staff and offering 300 existing agency employees permanent contracts.
It comes after a sharp market rebound for construction equipment following the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in spring 2020, which saw JCB factories halt production across the globe.
JCB chief operating officer Mark Turner said: “The rebound following the Covid-19 pandemic continues to gather pace and even in the space of a month since we started recruiting, we now need a further 450 shop floor employees.
"The creation of a total of 850 jobs this year is very good news for our business and for the areas where we operate.
"It is also great news that this year we will give permanent JCB contracts to more than 700 agency employees, starting this month.”
