Lincoln Reds lead English premier sale at 8000gns

The English Premier sale of Lincoln Reds, Aberdeen-Angus, Salers and Simmentals at Newark saw a selective trade.

Sale leader at 8,000gns was the Lincoln Red bull, Brackenhurst Viper, a Beverley Raider son from Nottingham Trent Universirty, Southwell which sold with an EBV of +34, in the top 10 per cent of the breed. Breed champion at Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Shows in 2017, it sold to Michael Read, Lincolnshire.


Next in the Lincoln Red bulls at 7,000gns was Walmer Viborg from the Needler family, Ranby. By Market Stainton Norman, it sold to N. J. Barton, Macclesfield.


Making 3,500gns was Auchmacoy Victor, by Auchmacoy Lancelot from Sharon Buchan, Aberdeenshire which was knocked down to R. H. and J. M. Grace, Cornwall.


Female trade in the Lincoln Reds was led at 2800gns by Premier Wispa bit St Fort Stirling from R. Mawer, Woodhall Spa which found a new home with M. Wyland, Norwich.

Taking the top call of 5,000gns in the Aberdeen-Angus bulls was Glenade Exclusive from M. and J. O’Hara, Pinner. This son of Rawburn Double Oseven joined A. E. J. and F. J. Claridge, Buckinghamshire.


Next at 4,000gns was Shadwell Patriot S927 by Idvies Eland son from Shadwell Estate, Thetford which sold to R. M. Shaw, Norwich.

 

Selling for 3,000gns was the Salers bull, Rigel Lyra by Rigel Byron Poll from Rigel Pedigree, Yarm which was bought by B. G. Peberdy, Great Glen, Lincolnshire.

 

Simmentals bulls peaked at 3,400gns for Hemingford Horatio from Messrs Griffin and Arkley, Huntingdon. By Corskie Dreamer son, it sold to M. J. Harris, Rugby.

 

Next at 3,300gns was Grangewood Heston by Grangewood Damascus from Messrs Leedham, Pickering which was taken by James Knight, Sleaford.

 

A 3,800gns bid led the Simmental female trade paid for Heathbrow Indigo from David and Lesley Sapsed, Hitchin. By Heathbrow Grand Slam, it sold to J. L. Mee, Nottingham.

 

At 2,600gns was Midhope Glamorous from the Hollingsworth family, Sheffield. By Woodhall Everhart, it was the choice of Forvague Bros, Coleorton, Leicestershire.

 

Averages; 7 Simmental bulls, £3,090; 8 Lincoln Red bulls, £4,055.63; 4 Aberdeen-Angus bulls £3,766.88; 1 Salers bull, £3.150; 36 Lincoln Red heifers, £1,074.79; 20 Simmental heifers.
