The 64-year-old had been towing another tractor with the 1950s Ferguson T20 tractor when the incident happened.

The man, from North Devon, was trapped under the vehicle on land in Umberleigh on Bank Holiday Monday.

He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Emergency services were called at 2.30pm after the 1950s Ferguson T20 tractor overturned in a field and trapped the driver underneath.

"The tractor had been towing another tractor when the incident happened.

"The driver, from Umberleigh, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on arrival at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth."

Police collision investigators are investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 560 of August 28.

The incident follows two other farm-related deaths in the space of four days.
