Maria leads Haltcliffe reduction at 8,000gns

The major reduction sale from the Haltcliffe Limousin herd of Craig Ridley, Wigton, Cumbria topped at 8,000gns for the in-calf heifer, Haltcliffe Maria.

THE January 2016-born heifer by Haltcliffe Hitec out of the Sympa daughter, Haltcliffe Bianca is in-calf to 20,000gns Grahams Michael. It sold to be shared between Richard Bartle and Mary Cormack’s Absolute herd and Paul Dawes’ Dinmore herd, Herefordshire.


Following this two lots made 6,500gns. First to an undisclosed buyer was the Sympa daughter Haltcliffe Gina and its eight-month-old heifer calf by Ballyrobin Joop, Haltcliffe Nellie. The other was the January 2016-born Haltcliffe Mel in-calf to Ampertaine Elgin which was knocked down to K. and S. Williamson for their Blackwater herd, Co Tyrone.


At 6,200gns was the April 2016 born in-calf heifer Haltcliffe Mirage, by Cloughhead Umpire out of the Loosebear Fantastic daughter Haltcliffe Image. It was knocked down to Benny Quinn for the Quinn Brothers Killydun Herd in Kilrea, Co Londonderry.


At the same price came the young cow Haltcliffe Humble with her six month old bull calf by Ducasse at foot, Haltcliffe Norman. By the Objat son Cloughhead Ernie and out of the Sympa daughter Haltcliffe Breeze. The buyer was Michael Phillips, Doon West, Co Sligo.

 

AVERAGES - 31 cows and heifers served and/or suckling, £4,223.71; 26 served heifers, £3,497.31; 22 maiden heifers, £2920.91.
