New Derbyshire Gritstone breed record at Clitheroe

A new Derbyshire Gritstone breed record of 4,000gns was set at the breed society show and sale at Clitheroe for the pre-sale show champion. This was a shearling ram from Tim Hardings Spittle flock, High Peak.

New Derbyshire Gritstone breed record at Clitheroe #Sheep365 #ShowsAndSales

A new Derbyshire Gritstone breed record of 4,000gns was set at the breed society show and sale at Clitheroe for the pre-sale show champion. This was a shearling ram from Tim Hardings Spittle flock, High Peak. By a Clive Mitchell ram out of a home-bred ewe, it sold to Megan Needham, Rivington.


The second prize shearling ram from David Eggleton from Meltham, West Yorkshire, the sold to Mr Hardings for 3,000gns.
The first prize ram from Mr Eggleton was knocked down for 720gns to Steven Charles, Buxton.


Females sold to 170gns/head for the second prize winners from S. Field, Burnley, going to D. Hobbs, Wimbourne. The same vendors also had the champion females, a pen of shearling gimmers which sold to M. Hemming, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, at 165gns each.

Averages

Breeding ewes, £95; shearling ewes, £140; gimmer lambs, £81; aged rams, £299; shearling rams, £469; ram lambs, £204.
