All breeds centre record set at Ballymena for Limousin bull

An all-breeds centre record of 10,500gns was set at the Limousin Cattle Society sale at Ballymena for the bull, Rahoney Obed.

The sale leader was consigned by H. and D. McFarland, Trillick, Co Tyrone, abd the September 2018-born AI son of Plumtree Fantastic out of Rahoney Hazel by Haltcliffe Vermont, sold to Stuart Perkins, Bath, Somerset.

 

Next at 4,500gns was Carnew Ordiscoll, a December 2018-born bull by Gerrygullinane Glen from J. and J. Aiken, Dromore, Co Down, which went to Norman McBurney, Ballymena.

 

Messrs Kennedy, Downpatrick, then paid 3,800gns for October 2018-born Droit Orkney, by Wilodge Cerberus from Richard James Mowbray, Newtownstewart. Another bull from Messrs McFarland, Rahoney Omega, also by Plumtree Vantastic, sold for 3,400gns to Philip J Savage, Newtownards, Co. Antrim.

 

The McKinney brothers, Maghera, had both top priced females at 2,300gns. The July 2018-born heifer, Heathmount Octet by Gunnerfleet Landmark sold to B. McAlister, Ballymena, and June 2019-born Heathmount Passionate, by the same sire, sold to James Alexander, Randalstown.

 

Averages - 16 bulls, £3,281.25 (+£496 on 2019); 12 females, £1,881.25 (+£53).
