Barber’s has announced it will hold its current milk price for a third consecutive month in April, despite UK milk production capacity concerns across the industry.
This means the Barber’s standard litre price will remain at 28.30ppl.
The cheesemaker said UK milk production was continuing to forge ahead.
“Indeed, apart from just two days this year, new UK record levels of milk production have been set every day of 2019.
“This remarkable result achieved even though FSA.AHDB report that 2019 dairy farmer exits to date have already exceeded those throughout all of 2018.”
Looking at the wholesale markets it highlighted demand had been subdued whilst production remains high.
“Brexit uncertainties and large currency fluctuations have also unsettled trades, with SMP the only dairy market increasing.”
