It is the fourth consecutive price hold from the cheesemakers.
Barber’s cheesemakers has announced it will hold its price for February ‘despite the widely reported downward dairy market pressure and price cuts announced by other processors’.
The price will remain at 30.30ppl for a Barber’s Assured standard litre.
Barber’s highlighted returns from SMP, cream and butter had fallen considerably but returns from mature cheddar markets have been more resilient.
However, it said if the current dairy market weakness continues towards the spring flush it did look ‘increasingly likely’ it would not be able to retain its price.
