Carlisle Blue Belles peak at 3,000gns

THE Blue Belles show and sale of Bluefaced Leicesters at Carlisle saw bidding reach 3,000gns for the second prized shearling gimmer consigned by R.A. McClymont and Son, Selkirkshire.

By a Burndale-bred tup out of a home-bred dam by a Shrewbridge-bred tup, it sold to Messrs Henderson, Hexham.

3,000gns show champion from M. and N. Gray, Morpeth

Making the same money was the overall champion, a 2016-born ewe from M. and N. Gray’s Espley flock, Morpeth. It is by a home-bred tup bred from the Ashes flock, out of a Red Cottage-bred ewe and was placed first at both Penrith and Peebles shows in 2018. It went home with Messrs McClymont.

 

Realising 2,000gns was the first prized shearling gimmer also from Messrs Gray. This time the 2017-born ewe is by a Shrewbridge-bred tup and out of a home bred ewe, it is scanned in-lamb with a single by a Kirkstead tup. It was the first prized ewe lamb at the Royal Highland show in 2017 and sold to Messrs Carter and Son, Wigton.

 

Next, at 1,050gns was a 2017-born ewe consigned by G.P. Williams and Co., Conwy. By an Addingham-bred tup and out of a home-bred dam by a Lowes Fell tup. It is scanned in-lamb with twins to a Mendick tup and sold to Messrs Gray.
