Corskie crack another strong Simmental trade

THE Corskie herd from W.J. and J. Green, Fochabers, headed the Farmers Guardian-sponsored national Simmental sale at Carlisle, with an October 2015-born home-bred bull.

Corskie crack another strong Simmental trade #BeefGB

Corskie Glacier 15, by the 2014 Royal Highland show champion Dirnanean Bradley 10 and out of Corskie Winter, sold for 5,600gns to J.W. Davison and Sons, Tyne and Wear.

 

Jim and Patricia Goldie, Dumfriesshire, took 5,000gns for the class winner Newbiemains Glitz 15, a Blackford Albatross 09 son. Out of the EX 91 Newbiemains Blitz and born in July 2015, it was knocked down to N., A., M. and S. Trotter, Roxburghshire.

 

The Corskie herd were back in the money when they sold Corskie Gus 15 to A. and P. Munro Farms, Ross-shire, for 4,800gns. Born September 2015 and by the 45,000gns Bel Dhu Capercaillie, it is out of Corskie Cadenc.

 

The male champion followed at 4,600gns. This was the senior bull Burghbridge Gabriel 15 from C.J.G. Clarke and Partners, Otley. By Horsfordmanor Bonus 10, it was taken home by Boddington Estates, Cheltenham.

 

Females hit 3,600gns, paid by N. and N. Gwynne, Wigtownshire. Standing third in its class, June 2015-born Willams Snowqueen 8 is out of Hockenhull Show Queen 35, which was bought from the Hockenhull herd dispersal. By the multi-champion bull Heathbrow Tristar, it came from Williams Clarke Livestock, Hevingham.

 

D.C. Houldey, Lockerbie, paid 3,500gns for the unhaltered heifer Blackwell Annie’s Gaiety. Bred by I. and M. Steele, Easington, it is by Caistor Aristotle and sold in-calf to Blakewell Warrior.

 

From the Goldie family, Newbiemains Geewhizz followed at 3,300gns. By Blackford Albatross, it sold to Hindmarsh Partners, Hexham.


Averages

22 bulls, £3,507.95; 4 served heifers, £2,651.25; 6 maiden heifers, £2,616.25; 12 unhaltered females, £1,894.38. Caistor herd: 18 cows and heifers, £1,808.92; 2 senior bulls, £2,257.50.
